The Schmidt tracker pipe organ: hand built by Hans Schmidt of North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1983: one manual and pedals, 7 ranks on the manual with three stops of divided compass; Pedal is 27 notes, C - d, of straight pull-down action only; manual compass is C to f3, 54 notes; freestanding solid oak casework with special-length tin façade pipes. Hans Schmidt himself returned to the Needham Church to move the instrument across the Chapel room (into its present position), renovating the playing action at that time, which work was executed in the late spring or summer of 2014. Note that prior to establishing the Schmidt organ company, Hans Schmidt worked for the Aeolian Skinner Organ Company, Boston, MA.
