John Watson 1978 Opus 12
Italian 17th century ottavino (patterned on Russell plate 14) This is a beautifully crafted example of Watson's early work: 37 notes, F-f” at 4’ pitch; dovetail case in cherry with paneled lid and keyboard of maple with dark stain sharps. The instrument is strung in brass and iron, with wood jacks and delrin plectra and speaks at 415 pitch. The box guide is secured to the underside of board which holds a beautifully crafted parchment rose. There is a tool box in back left corner of board. Dimensions are 23” x 12.5” with 6 5/16” octave. Historical pins. Comes with a padded zippered cover and tuning hammer and strings.
